Find an outline you enjoy, from a circle or oval to a heart, turtle or charm cluster, with close-up product photos and links to the detailed guides.

Browse necklace designs by the outline or motif that catches your eye: a circle, oval, rectangle, heart, turtle or cluster of charms. This visual guide uses six current Reef & Rose examples to help you recognise the shape and arrangement of a necklace's centre.

Round: a circle with sunburst detail

The Marisol Golden Sun Necklace has a circular outer frame with radiating detail inside it. The round outline and the sun motif are two features of the same pendant. Our sun jewellery guide explores that motif and other sun-inspired designs.

Oval: a curved, elongated outline

The Emma Opal Necklace has a turquoise-coloured oval centre surrounded by a gold-tone frame. Its longer vertical outline gives you a different shape to compare with a circular pendant. The photograph also shows the spaced round details along the chain.

Rectangular: straight sides and defined corners

The Xanthe Emerald Necklace shows a rectangular green centre held by four corner prongs. Its current product listing identifies the centre as green zirconia. For ideas on combining green details with other jewellery, see our green jewellery styling guide.

Heart: a recognisable motif within a layered design

The Maisy Pearl Heart Layered Necklace places a polished heart on its lower layer, with a white pearl-style accent on the shorter layer. Look at the complete arrangement as well as the heart itself when comparing this design with a single-pendant necklace. The heart jewellery guide explores other heart designs and their personal associations.

Figurative: a turtle-shaped pendant

A figurative design takes the outline of a recognisable subject. The Celine Opal Turtle Necklace uses a turtle shape, with the head and flippers surrounding its coloured centre. The listing describes a simulated-opal centre. Our turtle necklace guide compares Celine with Malia's separate shell-and-turtle charms.

Charm cluster: several shapes together

The Lulwa Pearl Shell Necklace brings three shapes together: a ribbed gold scallop shell on the left, a vertical irregular white baroque pearl in the middle and a small eight-point gold sun on the right. Its cluster creates a combined outline from separate details. For outfit ideas using shell motifs, visit the shell jewellery styling guide.

Use the shape as a starting point

Once you have found an outline you like, open the product page to check its dimensions, chain length, finish options and construction. The photographs here show design details; use the individual listing's measurements when judging size.
